Plain English Summary: Use PurrPilot responsibly to help plan your road trips. Community data (ratings, notes, badges) should be contributed respectfully and honestly. We provide information to assist you, but you're responsible for your cats' safety and your driving decisions.

1. Agreement to Terms

By downloading, installing, or using PurrPilot ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the App.

2. Description of Service

PurrPilot is a mobile application designed to help users plan road trips while traveling with cats. The App provides:

  • Route planning with dual-map navigation (Apple Maps and Google Maps)
  • Suggestions for cat-friendly stops along your route
  • Location information for veterinary clinics, pet stores, fuel stations, and rest areas
  • Customizable stop filters and interval settings
  • Pet profiles with names, photos, and special needs tracking
  • Community ratings, notes, and verified pet-friendly badges for stops
  • Favorites and trip history
  • General tips for traveling with cats

3. Important Disclaimers

⚠️ Safety First: PurrPilot is an informational tool only. Always prioritize the safety of yourself, your passengers, and your pets. Never use the App while driving.

3.1 Not a Substitute for Professional Advice

The information provided by PurrPilot, including cat travel tips, is for general informational purposes only. It is not intended to be a substitute for professional veterinary advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult with a qualified veterinarian before traveling with your cats, especially for long distances.

3.2 Accuracy of Information

While we strive to provide accurate and up-to-date information about locations and services:

  • Business hours, availability, and services may change without notice
  • Location data is provided by Apple MapKit and Google Maps Platform and may contain inaccuracies
  • We cannot guarantee that any location is "cat-friendly" or suitable for your specific needs
  • Always verify important information (especially for veterinary emergencies) by calling ahead

3.3 Navigation

PurrPilot provides route suggestions and integrates with Apple Maps and Google Maps for navigation. You are solely responsible for:

  • Safe driving practices at all times
  • Complying with all traffic laws and regulations
  • Making your own driving decisions regardless of navigation suggestions
  • Not operating the App while driving

3.4 Community Data

Stop ratings, notes, and verified pet-friendly badges are contributed by PurrPilot users and are not independently verified by PurrPilot. Community data may be outdated, inaccurate, or incomplete. Always verify important information independently before relying on it.

4. Your Responsibilities

When using PurrPilot, you agree to:

  • Use the App only for lawful purposes
  • Not use the App while operating a vehicle
  • Take full responsibility for the care, safety, and wellbeing of your cats during travel
  • Verify important information independently before relying on it
  • Keep your cats safely secured in appropriate carriers while the vehicle is in motion
  • Never leave cats unattended in a parked vehicle

5. User-Generated Content

5.1 Content Ownership & License

When you contribute ratings, notes, or other content to PurrPilot ("User Content"), you retain ownership of your contributions. By submitting User Content, you grant PurrPilot a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to display, distribute, and make your contributions available to other PurrPilot users through the App and Apple CloudKit.

5.2 Community Guidelines

When contributing community data, you agree not to:

  • Submit false or intentionally misleading information about stops or locations
  • Post hate speech, discriminatory language, or threatening content
  • Submit spam, advertisements, or promotional content
  • Post offensive, obscene, or inappropriate content
  • Impersonate other users or misrepresent your identity
  • Submit content that violates any applicable law or regulation

5.3 Content Moderation & Removal

PurrPilot reserves the right to review, edit, or remove any User Content at our sole discretion, including content that violates these Community Guidelines. If you encounter inappropriate content, please report it to support@purrpilot.com.

5.4 Accuracy of Community Data

⚠️ Important: Community ratings, notes, and verified pet-friendly badges are contributed by users and are not independently verified by PurrPilot. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any User Content. Always verify critical information independently.

6. Intellectual Property

The App and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by PurrPilot and are protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not:

  • Copy, modify, or distribute the App
  • Reverse engineer or attempt to extract the source code
  • Use the App's branding or content without permission

7. Third-Party Services

The App integrates with third-party services, including:

  • Apple MapKit: For maps, search, and routing
  • Apple Maps: For turn-by-turn navigation
  • Google Maps SDK: For maps, route visualization, and location markers
  • Google Directions API: For route calculation
  • Google Places API: For searching destinations and nearby places
  • Apple CloudKit: For syncing community ratings, notes, and verified badges

Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms and conditions. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or practices of any third-party services.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

  • PurrPilot is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind
  • We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely accurate
  • We shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
  • We shall not be liable for any harm to you, your pets, or others arising from your use of the App
  • We shall not be liable for any decisions made based on community-contributed data, including ratings, notes, and verified badges
  • Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App (if any)

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless PurrPilot and its operators from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising from:

  • Your use of the App
  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Your violation of any rights of another party
  • Any harm to your pets during travel
  • Your User Content contributions, including any claims that your contributions are inaccurate, misleading, or violate the rights of others

10. Changes to the App and Terms

We reserve the right to:

  • Modify or discontinue the App at any time without notice
  • Update these Terms at any time

Continued use of the App after changes to these Terms constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

11. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to the App immediately, without prior notice, for any reason, including breach of these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the App will cease immediately.

12. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which PurrPilot operates, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

13. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary so that these Terms shall otherwise remain in full force and effect.
